Our colleague Étienne Guyon left us last summer. The oldest of us may have met Étienne as co-organizer of workshops in Carry le Rouet that deeply inspired MePhy. The informal tone of these workshops encouraged discussions between disciplines and generations. Étienne was also lively member of the PMMH lab. Two successive events are organized to celebrate Étienne’s memory.
On Monday April 22nd, the PMMH lab organizes a colloquium featuring invited scientific présentations, testimonials and experimental demonstrations. The program of this colloquium and (free) registration information are available at the following link:

On Tuesday April 23rd, Mephy organizes a workshop at ESPCI. We propose to highlight granular media, suspensions or mechanics of slender structured that fascinated Étienne at the end of his career. If Étienne could be with us, he would have loved to meet his old friends, but also make new ones. Young researchers who never interacted with Étienne are very welcome to present their work!
Étienne enjoyed live scientific demonstrations. As a “clin d’oeil”, presenters are warmly encouraged to include, when possible, a simple demo in their presentations.
