The Institut de Physique de Nice (INPHYNI) at Université Côte d’Azur, France, is pleased to announce an opening for a tenure-track position as a Junior Professor, equivalent to an Assistant Professor, specializing in soft matter and/or fluid dynamics. This opportunity is targeted towards bright candidates who have demonstrated early success in their academic careers. The successful candidate will start on September 1, 2024.
Position Details:
* Support Package: The position includes an “entry package” of 200,000 euros.
* Contract Type: This position is offered on a fixed-term public law contract (CDD) for a duration of 5 years.
* Teaching Load: The appointee will be required to teach approximately 64 hours per year, which is about a third of the normal teaching load.
* Tenure Evaluation: After the 5-year term, tenure evaluation will be conducted based on the candidate’s scientific contributions and professional aptitude by a designated commission. Successful evaluation will lead to a permanent Professorship at Université Côte d’Azur.
* Career Progression: This track is designed to facilitate more rapid career advancement than is typically available in France.
Research Focus:
The project aims to recruit a brilliant specialist in physics or engineering sciences to develop theoretical, numerical, or experimental activities in soft matter and/or fluid dynamics. A strong point of this recruitment will be to develop new approaches and themes for INPHYNI in synergy with numerous researchers in the “non-linear physics, complex fluids, and biophysics” scientific axis. The recruited person must propose an ambitious scientific project and be able to respond to European project calls. This person will strengthen the international visibility of Université Côte d’Azur in the field of complex systems by promoting cutting-edge research at the interface between physics and other fields such as biology, chemistry, engineering, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, materials science, earth and space sciences, etc.
